Business bachelor’s degree programs earn accreditation
PBSC’s Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Supervision and Management, offered on the Lake Worth campus as well as online, encompasses four concentrations, all of which meet the educational standards required for ACBSP accreditation. The concentrations are General Management, Entrepreneurship, Health Management and Project Management.
The programs received accreditation through a three-plus-year submission process, which was led by Dr. C. Thomas Capers, professor and department chair for the Supervision and Management B.A.S. degree.
ACBSP bases its accreditation on the criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. By evaluating aspects of the institutional leadership, strategic planning processes, relationships with the community, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials and services, and educational support, ACBSP determines whether or not the institution offers a rigorous educational experience and demonstrates continuous quality improvement.
“Palm Beach State College has shown their commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale. “This accreditation is evidence that Palm Beach State College is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students.”
Launched in 2009, the B.A.S. degree in Supervision and Management typically requires an associate degree to enroll and takes two years to complete. According to the latest data, 1,539 students are pursuing the degree.
“ACBSP’s student-centered teaching and learning approach, which is measured and analyzed for quality, ensures that our students gain the right skills from their educational investment,” said Don Gladney, Ed.D., associate dean for the College’s B.A.S. programs and a former IBM program director. “By becoming ACBSP-accredited, we are committing to continuous improvement that ensures our Supervision and Management graduates will have the skills employers want.”
PBSC administrators will be presented with the Certificate of Accreditation at the 2017 ACBSP Conference in Anaheim, California on June 26. Florida’s only other ACBSP-accredited public institutions are Florida A&M University and Florida State College in Jacksonville.
